Every Vote Counts

We’re excited to announce that Joanne Lam, Brittany Manning, and Dr. Gregory Fernandez are running for the Holmdel Board of Education this November.

Lam, Manning, and Fernandez are three Holmdel parents - a wealth manager with a tax background, a corporate CPA, and a physician with project and tech management experience – with exactly the kind of expertise that our school district needs to help resolve the budget deficit of more than $2 million, ensure a positive school culture with accountability, and restore Holmdel’s top academic ranking.

Check back here in the coming weeks to learn more about the candidates!

Can’t wait? Here’s a sneak preview:

Joanne Lam is a former student athlete, who earned an accounting degree from Fordham University while on the women’s crew team. With decades of experience in corporate tax and finance at global financial institutions like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and HSBC, she is currently a wealth advisor with a focus on retirement planning and tax-efficient strategies.

A fun fact about Joanne: she and her family love adventure rope courses and have completed them in six states and Canada.

Brittany Manning has both a bachelor's and master's degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame.  Currently, she’s a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Vice President of Tax at a $5 billion global distribution company, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Middletown.

Few know this about Brittany: She was on the Notre Dame Women’s D1 Basketball practice team. During that time, the team made the NCAA tournament each year, going as far as the Sweet Sixteen and finished the season ranked top 15 in the country in two of the years.

Dr. Gregory Fernandez graduated from Holmdel High School in 1991, received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University, MD from Robert Wood Johnson/Rutgers, and is now a physician caring for cancer patients at the world-renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

A little-known fact about Dr. Fernandez: Greg started playing guitar in Holmdel High School and formed a hard rock band with his college friends in 1992 that continues today. They play classic and hard rock tunes from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
